cold water, granite and almost nobody
You have to go down a bit to get there. The path already tells you everything: this isn't a Sunday beach with parking at the water's edge and a terrace with music. The Praia Fluvial Lapa dos Dinheiros sits tucked into a fold in the terrain near Seia, where the Serra da Estrela starts to stop being mountain and becomes valley.
The water comes from up high and you feel it. Even in August, when the sun hits the granite rocks head-on, the water temperature keeps you awake and honest. There's no way to get in slowly, so just get in.
The atmosphere is understated. The people who show up here know the place or came on the recommendation of someone who does. It isn't a beach for seeing and being seen. It's a place to spend hours without doing much, with the sound of the water covering everything else.
Seia is nearby, but this spot feels like it belongs to a different rhythm. You bring what you need, make the most of the natural shade on the banks, and remember how good it is when there are no queues for anything.
