Praia Foz do Arelho - Lagoa de Óbidos

two seas for the price of none

The beach stretches between two worlds: on one side the Lagoa de Óbidos, on the other the Atlantic. This isn't tourist-brochure metaphor. It's the actual geometry of the place, and it changes everything about how you spend the day.

Foz do Arelho lets you pick your mood. Lagoon in the morning, when the surface is still mirror-flat and the kitesurfers are rigging up their gear. Sea in the afternoon, when the waves build and bodyboarders from every corner of the world are already out there. The cliff that closes the horizon to the south frames all of this and reminds you that you're backed up against the escarpment that stretches all the way to Nadadouro.

The sunset seen from the boardwalks, with the lagoon and the ocean both in your field of vision at the same time, is the reason why plenty of people who come once end up coming back to the Oeste every year.
