between a moscatel and the most famous square in setúbal
The building used to be the Clube de Oficiais. Today it takes in tourists, moscatel and anyone who wants to understand what makes the Setúbal region a serious wine and food destination. The Casa do Turismo works partly as a shop, partly as an interpretive centre, partly as a place to stop for a bit.
The first-floor terrace is the most concrete point of interest: it opens directly onto the Praça de Bocage, with the Paços do Concelho in the field of view. It's the kind of view the people of Setúbal no longer notice, but it places you squarely in the centre of the city.
The café works with local products, which means you can leave with a bottle of moscatel under your arm and a clearer sense of what you're going to drink. It's not a museum with compulsory rooms and panels. It's an entry point into the region's food and drink scene, with access to the Casa da Cultura right next door. If you arrive without a plan for the rest of the afternoon, there are worse places to start.
