Praia Fluvial Mega Fundeira

still water in the good sense

Proper calm. The kind of calm that only inland river beaches can give, far from salt and chaos. The Praia Fluvial Mega Fundeira sits beside the Zêzere river, in an area where the green of the riverbank still dominates the landscape and summer smells of resin and dry earth.

You arrive, lay down your towel, get in the water. No waves, no aggressive current, no crowd fighting over every metre of sand. The space is there, the silence is there, and shade appears too if you look for it at the edge of the bank.

It's a neighbourhood beach in the best sense: the people here know the place, come back every year, know how it works. You're not discovering anything, you're just the latest person to realise that Pedrógão Grande has this poorly kept secret right next to the Zêzere.

what you'll find

  • calm fresh water, ideal for those who don't like waves
  • a bank with a sandy area and natural shade
  • a local atmosphere, no mass tourism
  • the Zêzere a few metres away, with all the pine forest and hillside landscape that comes with it
