8 km from the source of the Zêzere
The river is still young here. The water passing through Relva da Reboleira has come only a few kilometres since it rose in the Serra da Estrela, and you feel it: the bed is narrow, clean, with the pace of something that hasn't yet gained volume.
The beach is in the parish of Sameiro, in Natural Park territory. The trees around it weren't planted to give shade to swimmers: they're native, part of the riparian gallery that follows the Zêzere down from the highest elevations. The campsite integrated into the complex runs alongside the bathing area, giving the place the atmosphere of a stay rather than a stop.
To get to Manteigas you've already done mountain roads. This is the next step: leaving the town, covering another eight kilometres through the valley, and stopping where the Zêzere still fits in a single view.
